China-Singapore green forum held in Tianjin eco-city

The China-Singapore Green and Low-Carbon Economic Forum was held in China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city on Nov 21.

Organized by Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Company(SSTEC), the master developer of the eco-city, the forum marks the 15th anniversary of the eco-city development.

With the construction beginning in September 2008, the eco-city is an example of Singapore and China working closely to contribute to global green development.

The forum focuses on the eco-city's leading role in achieving carbon neutral goals and accelerating the integrated development of its green economy.

More than 400 representatives from government agencies, industry experts, and business leaders from China and Singapore  exchanged insights for accelerating the development of a green and low-carbon economy.

The China Singapore Green and Low-Carbon Economic Forum held in the eco-city.

Teo Eng Cheong, CEO of SSTEC, welcomed the guests in his opening remarks. He said the forum was organized to seek solutions for sustainable development and promote cooperation between China and Singapore in the low-carbon sector.

SSTEC signed an agreement with the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee (ECAC) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to establish the SUTD Eco-City Research and Innovation Center.

SSTEC also signed an MOU on Promoting the ''Eco-Innovation • Green Action'' International Young Talent Innovation Competition & Eco-City ''Innovation Star'' Competition and Industry-University-Research Collaboration with Beihang Investment Company, universities and enterprises. All parties pledge to cooperate to enhance the technological innovation capacity of the eco-city, accelerate the industrial results of scientific and technological achievements, and promote talent development and information sharing.

To provide better services for the enterprises, SSTEC also signed the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City International Company Accelerator Programme (ICAP) - MOU on Business Consulting Services with Lixin Certified Tax Agents (Tianjin) Company, which would enable Lixin to provide early stage market research and other business consulting services.

The company also signed the MOUs on ICAP with six international enterprises. As a comprehensive business solution, ICAP helps enterprises access a range of resources and have the opportunity to enter the eco-city, Tianjin and North China markets.

SUTD, Tiangong University, China Eco-City Academy, CIB Institute for Carbon Neutrality and Finance and Beihang Investment, also hosted four sub-forums and discussed how to drive the low-carbon development from different aspects.
