Tianjin development zone awards companies, individuals

Tianjin Economic Development Zone in Binhai New Area held an honors presentation ceremony to recognize outstanding enterprises and individuals, at the Yujiapu international Commerce Center on Sept 10.

In all, 10 TEDA individual residents, TEDA Top 100 Enterprises and companies leading in innovation and technology, ecological protection and attracting investment services were presented with given awards.

Officials said that in 2018, TEDA Top 100 Enterprises made notable progress. They accounted for most of the sales and profits, by far, earned by companies of a designated size – those earning 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) or more per year -- in the Binhai New Area. They also contributed to 59.1percent of the tax revenue in the area, according to official data.

Officials said companies in the area had witnessed continued upgrading – with the proportion of companies steadily rising in the services, strategic emerging and high-tech sectors.

Last year also witnessed the improvement of TEDA in striving for scientific and technological innovation, as well as in creating a first-class innovation environment.

In 2018 a total of 1,217 new technology enterprises were added to the area and a record 595 science and technology enterprises with a scale of over 100 million yuan were created, which made the area rank top in total and increased numbers coming to Tianjin.

Officials said that more importantly, enterprises in TEDA -- by improving their production processes, reducing emissions and improving pollution controls – achieved the best air and water quality for five years.
