China wants to deepen vocational education exchanges with Uzbekistan and establish platforms for industry-education integration and the training of technical talent.

To help it do so, Li Yunmei, Party secretary of the Tianjin Light Industry Vocational Technical College (TLIVTC), led a delegation to the cities of Tashkent and Gulistan in the landlocked central Asian nation in late June 2026.

The visit aimed to pave the way for comprehensive and pragmatic cooperation in vocational education.

During their stay in Tashkent, delegation members visited several key local universities and collaborative hubs.

On the morning of June 25, meetings were held at Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU) and the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) to discuss cooperation in the development of disciplines, practical training and joint talent cultivation. In the afternoon, the delegation visited the China-Uzbekistan Friendship City to discuss partnerships with park operators.

The visit featured the inauguration and plaque-unveiling ceremony of the China-Uzbekistan Technical Training Center and a symposium with local Chinese enterprises about the cultivation of local skilled talent.

Discussions focused on faculty and student exchanges, joint training programs and the co-construction of specialized majors, followed by the unveiling of the Uzbekistan EPIP Application and Promotion Center.

In the afternoon, the delegation inspected the Syrdarya Senior Vocational School to evaluate its training facilities and engage in partnership talks.
