At the Tianjin Night city promotion event held in Dalian on June 23 during the 2026 Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as Summer Davos, Tianjin showcased its unique blend of rich cultural heritage and technological innovation.
In his remarks, Tianjin Mayor Zhang Gong described the city as a major manufacturing base, maritime gateway, and frontier of opening-up in China. He emphasized Tianjin's efforts to advance high-quality development, strengthen scientific and technological innovation, and deepen regional cooperation under the coordinated development strategy of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
World Economic Forum Managing Director Gim Huay Neo noted that the Summer Davos Forum helps connect China and the world, and praised Tianjin's important role as one of the forum's host cities.
Guests enjoyed cultural performances, including martial arts and ballet, while also experiencing traditional crafts such as Yangliuqing woodblock New Year paintings. Tianjin's famous local foods, including Goubuli steamed buns and jianbing guozi (Chinese pancake wrap), were also popular highlights.
Meanwhile, interactive displays of cutting-edge technologies — including brain-computer interfaces, humanoid robots, underwater gliders, and synthetic biology innovations — demonstrated the city's growing strength in emerging industries.
