Tianjin Port Group and Huawei jointly launched a new-generation intelligent horizontal transportation system solution in Tianjin on Tuesday, presenting an innovative, low-cost, and replicable model to accelerate the intelligent upgrading of global container terminals.

The new system effectively breaks the longstanding efficiency bottlenecks of mixed operation in automated port horizontal transportation. It enables intelligent upgrading for over 90 percent of traditional global container terminals without physical isolation facilities or large-scale venue renovations, marking a feasible Tianjin solution for the high-quality transformation of the global shipping industry, according to Tianjin Port.

Running from Tuesday to Friday, the fourth Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo focuses on AI-driven port and shipping development, gathering over 400 exhibitors at home and abroad to strengthen global logistics and industrial chain cooperation.

China has maintained the world's top ranking in port cargo and container throughput for two consecutive years, owning the largest number of automated ports under construction and in operation worldwide, according to the organizer.

Li Xinghu, vice minister of transport, affirmed China's robust shipping strength during the expo. He introduced that China has built the world's largest port cluster, with its cargo and container throughput leading the globe for more than 20 years.

The country boasts the world's largest shipping fleet and accounts for nearly one-third of global international shipping volume, forming a full-coverage global shipping service network. Industry insiders noted that China's sound infrastructure and technological innovation have become a vital stabilizing force for global supply chains.
