More than 3,000 runners gathered in Baodi district, Tianjin, on Saturday to kick off the 2026 Tianjin Baodi Sports & Tourism Carnival, as a crabapple-themed Color Run painted the spring landscape in a burst of color and joy.

Set against the backdrop of blooming crabapple trees, the 5-kilometer color run followed the themes of "running, flower viewing, trendsetting and spring outings", inviting participants of all ages to enjoy a non-competitive, family-friendly course lined with flower petals and colored powder.

The event marked the opening of the 2026 Baodi Sports & Tourism Carnival, a season-long initiative designed to integrate sports events with cultural tourism and consumer experiences.

Beyond the race, the venue featured an electro music party, street dance performances, interactive games for children and a bustling "Tangchao Market".

More than 40 stalls offered local specialties, intangible cultural heritage crafts and creative products, giving participants a taste of Baodi's vibrant local culture.

Baodi is set to host more than 70 major sporting events this year, including a half marathon and fishing competitions, further activating local tourism resources and injecting sustained vitality into the region's high-quality development.
