The China-SCO Vocational Education Cooperation Center was inaugurated at Tianjin University of Technology and Education in Tianjin on September 2.

It is a major achievement of the 2025 SCO Summit, which was held in Tianjin from Aug 31-Sept 1, and an important initiative to open up and deepen exchanges among SCO countries. The center is expected to expand international vocational education cooperation among SCO countries, conduct international training, deepen research on vocational education, and promote international certification and standard development for vocational education.

 It aims to strengthen academic exchanges and educational research collaboration among member countries, promote resource sharing, and actively contribute to improving the quality of vocational education and talent cultivation in SCO countries.

The center has also established a think tank which comprised 58 experts from nine countries, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan. The think tank adheres to the Shanghai Spirit and focuses on addressing critical issues in the high-quality development of vocational education.

It conducts foundational, forward-looking, and strategic thematic research while providing advisory services, aiming to support China’s vocational education sector in contributing to global sustainable development efforts.

The SCO Vocational Education Teacher Training Base, led by Tianjin University of Technology and Education, collaborates with high-quality vocational education resources to jointly promote teacher training programs. It focuses on enhancing the professional skills of technical and vocational educators across SCO countries. 

The SCO Vocational Education Equipment R&D and Promotion Alliance consists of one research institute, 25 corporate members, and 27 academic members. Its goals include establishing widely recognized standards and certification systems for vocational education equipment, developing high-quality educational tools and teaching resources, and building an open, collaborative, and innovative international cooperation platform. To date, over 40 sets of vocational education equipment developed by the alliance have been deployed in institutions across Kazakhstan, India, Pakistan, and other countries.
