The 3rd Luban Workshop International Invitational has concluded at Tianjin Vocational College of Mechanics and Electricity (TVCME). The event featured teams from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Pakistan, Portugal, Thailand and Uzbekistan pitting their vocational skills against one another.
Jointly hosted by the administrative committee of Tianjin Haihe Education Park and the Mechatronics Industry-Education Integration Alliance, and organized by the TVCME, the event showcased cross-cultural collaboration and technical excellence.
"This event is more than a skills competition — it is a grand gathering of mutual learning and a celebration of international friendship," said Wang Weiyuan, president of the college.
"It fully embodies the Luban Workshop's core philosophy of win-win cooperation and technological sharing." Wang emphasized that, in the era of Industry 4.0, skills know no borders and innovation is limitless.
"Only through open cooperation can we rise to the challenges of global industrial transformation," he added.
"Watching young people of different backgrounds communicate, cooperate, and learn from each other on the same stage reaffirms my belief that vocational education is a bridge between dreams and reality—and a powerful force in building a shared future for humanity."
This year's competition adopted a joint team format, with each team comprising one Chinese and one international student, as well as a supervising instructor, to foster collaboration and deepen technical exchange.
In the Smart Production Line Installation and Commissioning project, participants completed tasks including PLC programming, robot programming, network communication setup, and HMI interface design within a limited time, testing their mastery of intelligent production line integration.
The Industrial Robot Application project focused on equipment setup, machine vision application, inverter configuration, robot operation, and PLC programming, challenging participants' comprehensive skills in industrial robotics.
Throughout the event, competitors demonstrated strong technical foundations, teamwork, and focus, reflecting the depth of their training and the value of collaborative learning.
The success of the invitational not only highlighted the advanced skills of participating students but also served as a testament to the international achievements of the Luban Workshop initiative.
TVCME will continue to promote teaching, learning, and innovation through competition, share quality educational resources with Belt and Road partner countries, and explore new models for exporting vocational education, striving to cultivate more highly skilled professionals in the global industrial robotics sector.
