Tianjin launched its 2025 Skills Week on May 13 in the city's Hedong district, placing a strong focus on vocational training and employment under the theme "Skills Illuminate the Future".
At the opening ceremony, the city rolled out the "Skills Illuminate the Future" campaign to deliver targeted vocational training in key sectors such as advanced manufacturing, eldercare and childcare services, modern service industries, and emerging occupations.
The initiative is designed to support key employment groups by aligning skills training with job placement services. Over 100,000 people are expected to benefit from subsidized training programs throughout the year.
"We will harness the strengths of vocational colleges, private training institutions, and corporate training centers, with the human resources authority providing a centralized platform," said Wang Hongbao, deputy director of the vocational competence development division at the Tianjin Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
"This platform will integrate job market demand, training, skills assessment, and employment services into a cohesive, project-based system." Programs that meet regulatory standards will qualify for government training subsidies.
During the ceremony, plaques were awarded to newly designate national high-skilled talent training bases, national-level master studios, and enterprises selected as "Enterprise Training Centers for Skills Empowerment 2025". Certificates were also presented to individuals recognized as "Tianjin Technical Experts" based on their outstanding performance in vocational skills competitions.
This year's Skills Week will feature a diverse range of activities aimed at strengthening Tianjin's talent development ecosystem. Highlights include:
·A recognition ceremony for the "Skills Empower Enterprises" initiative
·The unveiling of a Public Training Base for Digital Talent
·The release of a "white list" of certified skills evaluation agencies
·Open house events at technical schools and national/international competition training centers
·Policy briefings on the "Haihe Craftsmen" construction project within industrial parks
The campaign will also spotlight exemplary organizations and individuals in vocational training and employment. It will share inspiring stories of students who have advanced through skills learning, workers who have improved their livelihoods through training, and skilled professionals who have increased their income by leveraging their technical expertise.
In line with Tianjin's preparations to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, the city will also organize international forums and vocational skills competitions to elevate the global profile of Tianjin's workforce development initiatives.
The city plans to select 100 enterprise training centers to enhance employee skill levels, drive product and process innovation, and ultimately achieve the dual goal of workforce upskilling and improved business performance, according to Wu Liguo, director of the vocational competence development division for municipal human resources and social security bureau.
