Over the past ten years, Xiqing has constantly adjusted its optimized industries and framework of resources. In addition to encouraging 2,076 enterprises to solve the pollution problem, the local government has also managed the integration of 55 industrial parks.

All coal-fired boilers above 65 steam tons have been converted to new ultra-low emission boilers, and all coal-fired boilers below 35 steam tons have been eliminated. 38,000 households of coal-consumers have been managed and cleaned, and the proportion of clean energy heating has reached 82 percent. During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), energy consumption per unit of GDP in the region decreased by 20 percent, and the carbon dioxide emission intensity per unit of GDP decreased by 22.06 percent.

Xiqing district has also strengthened the construction of its ecological civilization construction. Implementing the most strict ecological protection action, the local government has listed 21.8 square kilometers of land in the ecological protection red line, and built 68.5 square kilometers of green ecological barrier areas to high standards.
