Tianjin resumed in-person instruction for middle school and primary school students on Monday.

Before the reopening of school, large-scale nucleic testing had been conducted to ensure the safety of the students. There were no reports of COVID-19.

A week earlier, third-grade students of junior and senior high schools resumed on-campus lessons.

Some kindergartens in downtown areas also reopened on Monday, and those in coastal Binhai New Area are expected to open after the May Day holiday.

The city had suspended on-campus education for kindergartens through middle schools on March 14, when the city reported three confirmed cases.

University students in the city have been barred from leaving campus unless necessary since January.

The city reported one COVID-19 positive case on Sunday, its health commission said on Monday.
