The finals of the 10th China University Student Medical Technology and Skills Competition were held in Tianjin from May 15 to 16. They were co-held by the Ministry of Education and the Tianjin government and jointly organized by Tianjin Medical University and Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, assisted by Peking University, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Capital Medical University.

A total of 497 teams from 211 colleges and universities signed up for the competition and 142 teams entered the finals. In order to cope with the new challenges posed by the epidemic, the competition has added traditional Chinese medicine, preventive medicine and nursing courses to its original areas, with equal emphasis on Chinese and Western medicine as well as medical care.

It focuses on examining the basic theories, knowledge, and skills of the contestants in their professional field, emphasizing comprehensive qualities such as thinking ability, medical humanistic care and teamwork, and attaches importance to health education.

The competition is positioned to serve the general health and hygiene, and equally emphasizes medical ethics and skills, traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, medical and nursing coordination, clinical public health integration, and the combination of medicine, industry and science.

This pattern of emphasis identifies high-level medical talents who serve the new needs of people’s health, and promotes learning, teaching, and reform through competitions to comprehensively improve the quality of medical personnel training and help the construction of a healthy China.
