Tianjin has maximized the power of digital tools in its online governmental services, creating a smarter society for the benefit of residents.

“Jinxinban”, the city's public service and government affairs platform, is now providing 94,000 services - from medical care and getting loans to business approvals and social news - all of which can be accessed by users on their phones. It has witnessed over 6.4 million registrations.

The platform provides online business approval services with application materials, identity checks and digital signing.

Since the epidemic, it has issued permits for the establishment of more than 130,000 businesses, dealing with an average of 1,500 business-related applications per day.

The government has placed major banks on the platform to ease the financing difficulties faced by small and micro enterprises during the epidemic. To date, nearly 10 million yuan($1.5 billion) in loans has been provided to nearly 30 applicants.

To facilitate residents in getting timely medical care during the epidemic, it also gathers information on the top 40 hospitals in the city, so that residents can check and compare them before making appointments.

The health code function has facilitated the movement of residents during the epidemic and has proved effective in epidemic control and prevention.

The four most commonly used functions of the platform are the health code, business establishment, medical appointments and bill payment.
