As April draws nearer, the crabapple blossoms on Tianjin University’s (TJU) two campuses - Weijin Road Campus and Peiyangyuan Campus - are blooming.
But instead of opening its campuses to thousands of visitors as it has done for the past eight years, TJU will organize a ten-day live online broadcast of its yearly Crabapple Blossom Festival, balancing appreciation of the floral display with the necessities of epidemic control.
You can enjoy the prestigious, century-old campus scenery live through multiple media outlets and short video platforms like CCTV Video, People Video and Douyin.
Two livestreams will be put on Douyin, a popular short video app, on April 3 at Weijin Road Campus and on April 7 at Peiyangyuan Campus respectively. The host will show online visitors around the campuses and teach them about TJU history, architecture, university culture and campus life.
The university has also announced a list of other online functions, including enrollment consultation; ‘Concerts in the Air’ where the university’s Peiyang Orchestra will perform four concert livestreams; online classes teaching Chinese painting, physical and fitness education and even bakery and coffee making; and a cloud-based tour of the university’s history museum and labs. There is also a cloud job fair to be held on April 15, especially for graduate employers.
Most of the livestreams will be found on Tianjin University’s official accounts on Douyin and WeChat.
