As of midnight on Feb 23, Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA) had witnessed a total of 5,427 enterprises resuming work and production - a huge threefold increase in the past five days.

Among them, 945 above-designated-size enterprises with annual revenue above 20 million yuan - including 537 foreign-funded businesses - have restarted production, accounting for 81.8 percent of those in the city.

Airbus, Siemens, Novo Nordisk, Samsung and other foreign-funded enterprises are stepping up efforts to resume production. Airbus (Tianjin) Final Assembly Company has increased its assembly capacity to six aircraft each month, up from four per month last year.

The rapid resumption of operations in TBNA has also driven the reopening of the entire industrial chain.

By Feb 22, more than 90 percent of auto-parts businesses in TBNA had resumed production in support of the major automobile enterprises.

Meanwhile, over 90 percent of the 100 upstream suppliers of Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Tianjin Company had resumed supply, and the company had begun to supply products to the automobile production base of FAW Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen.

TBNA has been adopting various targeted support measures, buffering losses and boosting development for foreign-funded enterprises in TBNA.
