The Tianjin Vocational College of Mechanics and Electricity, occupying a land area of over 700 mu in the Haihe Educational Zone of Tianjin, currently offers 32 teaching programs in areas of mechanical equipment, aerospace, automobiles, environmental protection, electronic information, financial services, logistics, and port industries.
The college has achieved leapfrog development in recent years, with new groundbreaking outcomes made in multiple areas. Its teaching, research, and exchange achievements have historically been widely covered by mainstream media.
It runs a leading on-campus training center of 30,000 square meters that provides integrated functionality of teaching, production, and practical and technical training.
In a joint effort with corporations, the college launched the Automobile Vocational Experience Center, the first coordinative innovation center on application technology in the city.
It also hosts three national key programs, including the National Vocational Education Teacher Training Center in the Midwest, the National Vocational Education Teaching Resource Development and Production Center, and the National Vocational College Skills Competition Achievement Conversion Center.
For 11 consecutive years from 2008 to 2018, the college hosted the National Vocational College Skills Competitions. Students sent by the college have won 21 first prizes, 21 second prizes, and 18 third prizes of the vocational college group.
A preparatory course base on national-level programs has been established to train teachers and students for world vocational skill competitions.
The college also offers trial courses on global standardization, including numerical control technology and industrial robot technology, and has collaborated with Chennai Institute of Technology to offer a “Luban Workshop” program on equipment manufacturing in India.
