In keeping with its strategy of "upgrading the university with quality, talents, specialties and culture", Tianjin Agricultural University places impetus on constructing disciplines as its core focus, and is consistently improving the quality of talent cultivation. The university offers 15 colleges, 7 disciplines, 45 undergraduate majors, 8 higher vocational education programs, 9 first-level discipline academic master degrees, and 3 master professional degrees. In 2017, the university was approved as Tianjin 2017-2020 project construction (cultivation) university for doctoral degree authorization unit, and three first-level disciplines of crop science, veterinary medicine and aquatic products were authorized as the doctoral degree construction disciplines. There are 1 municipal first-class discipline, 4 municipal key disciplines, 5 municipal characteristic discipline groups and 1 national college students off-campus practice education base. There are 7 municipal high quality courses, and 7 municipal brand majors. In the recent two teaching achievement awards, the university won 13 municipal teaching achievement awards, including 5 first prizes and 8 second prizes. 

The university actively adapts to the needs of regional economic and social development and modern urban agriculture development, rationally adjusts the curriculum system, and gradually forms a more reasonable professional ecological group that supports the development of modern agriculture. In the context of popular education, the university roots in the Jingu soil, and focuses on combining production and research. In recent years, employment rate of graduates has reached 90%, a leading level among similar institutes. Many organizations have commented on the modesty, pragmatism, hard-work and loyalty of the university's graduates.
