Backed with solid past, Xiqing to open a new chapter

Known for its development in electronic information, automobiles, and biomedicine, Tianjin's Xiqing district now is revived up for emerging industries.  

To upgrade its industrial layout, the district has injected great energy on strategic emerging industries such as big data, artificial intelligence, new energy and new materials.

It is home to 47 Fortune 500 companies and 43 domestic 500 companies.

To enhance its research capability, Xiqing has invested 22.6 billion yuan ($3.21 billion) on R&D since 2012. To date, the region has 448 state-level high-tech enterprises, and the number of invention patents per 10,000 people is 26.77.

Under the new area development plan, the district created a state-level economic and technological development zone - Xiqing Economic and Technological Development Area. In 2018, the area's industrial added value was 53.54 billion yuan.

The new development plan is backed up by its solid industrial foundation.

During the past three decades, Tianjin Xiqing district's three leading industrial clusters of electronic information, automobiles, and biomedicine are very fruitful.

Recognized as an auto parts export base by the Ministry of Commerce, Xiqing is highly specialized in producing auto parts with over 300 auto parts companies gathering here, forming a comprehensive automobile industry chain.

Xiqing has also gathered up 400 high-end equipment manufacturing companies who have contributed to national major science and technology projects such as Shenzhou spacecraft, Tiangong No 1.

As one of the nine national electronic information industry bases in China, the district has gathered famous IC manufacturing companies such as SMIC, and has developed five industrial clusters including communication equipment, integrated circuits, electronic components, consumer electronics and electronic molds.

The district has also reform massively of government administration and services to further aid economic growth. Approval procedures were given to lower level authorities in a bid to facilitate business in the area.
