Established in 1863, the 156-year-old deluxe Astor Hotel Tianjin, a 5-star venue located 4.1 km from the Tianjin International Exhibition Center, has witnessed historical changes by accommodating many influential people.

According to history, revolutionary leader Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925), known as the Father of Modern China, chose the Astor Hotel Tianjin in 1912.

After Sun Yat-sen launched the Xinhai Revolution in 1911, ousting the ruling Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and founding the Republic of China in 1912, he came to northern China to meet Yuan Shikai, who was wielding control and attempting to establish a monarchy based in Beijing.

Newspapers recorded that Sun checked into the Astor Hotel Tianjin where he sent important information regarding the emergent situation to key figures around the country.

Nowadays, located in a business area close to Xiaobailou subway station as well as a church, a temple and a museum, the Astor preserves Sun's room in its historical style, offering a time tunnel experience to guests with its faithful depictions.

It can be reached in 20 minutes by car from Tianjin Binhai International Airport.

After renovations in 2010, the accommodation features Victorian architecture in a 7-story building, offering 152 guestrooms appointed with heating, LCD TV, and a refrigerator with all the sights of Tianjin within easy access. Some of the fashionable rooms enjoy a view of the river.
