Niger embraces Dagang's oil field technology

Niger's million-ton oil field was the first overseas project of Dagang Oilfield. We were the first workers of Dagang to work in the Sahara in 2010. In addition to the tough natural climate and undeveloped infrastructure, tricky situations of the Sahara such as large fault blocks, scattered and small reserves, and complex reservoir types all added to the difficulty of the work. In spite of the adverse situation, we were not discouraged; instead, we were determined to make a difference in local development.

The sweltering weather, which can reach as high as 122℉ during daytime, dampened everything. Yet we couldn't use the air conditioner while installation and debugging the equipment in the hot machine room because the tight electricity supply wouldn't support the two at the same time.

At the beginning, we were only given a very limited exploration area, barely one-tenth of the whole. It didn't discourage us; figures and facts speak by themselves. By paying attention to every little detail in the collected data, we soon established an exploration database that covered nearly 100,000 square kilometers in Niger.

We selected the Moul depression as the breakthrough point. It was once regarded as a restricted area for exploration. But we firmly believe that there is no forbidden area for exploration and no end to the search for oil.

Around the exploration area of 5,000 square kilometers of Moul, we achieved a thousand barrels of production after reevaluating and optimizing implementation of the Bamm well. Not long after, the development plan of 3 million tons with the research area expanding from the initial 10 blocks to final 93 blocks covering 27,000 square kilometers was licensed exclusively by the EISA 3 Niger government. In addition, Niger Project Company also accepted our structural interpretation of a more than 8,000 square kilometer area.

The G-2 well in Niger once was suspended for 893 days and nearly disclaimed. We saved it by repeatedly analyzing the characteristics of the previous test oil and logging data and finally suggesting a perforating measure. Since then the G-2 well has recovered 254,000 barrels of oil.

In October 2011, Niger's first-million-ton oil field completed the development plan of 4.5 million tons assisted by our efficient development strategy.

In April of this year, the second stage cooperation agreement was signed between the two parties. We will continue to provide technical support for oil and gas exploration and development, geological engineering design, digital oilfield construction and production operation and maintenance for the second phase. This is exactly what everyone expects. After all, we have feelings for Africa after staying there for seven years. We are willing to contribute to Niger and West Africa and benefit them through the technology of the Dagang Oilfield.
