German precision manufacturer Kern-Liebers has expanded its operations in Tianjin by opening a second-phase factory, demonstrating its strong confidence in China's market and its commitment to the city's long-term growth.
The new facility will expand production lines for precision medical springs while strengthening the company's manufacturing capacity for high-end precision components in North China.
Established more than 100 years ago, Kern-Liebers is known for its leadership in ultra-precision springs and stamped metal components. After setting up its Tianjin plant in 2015 and launching the first-phase factory in 2019, the company has steadily expanded its investment to accommodate rising demand.
The expansion supports the company's move into the medical sector. A newly developed digital production line in Tianjin manufactures precision springs for drug delivery devices under a global partnership with a Swiss client. The first line is capable of producing 15 million sets annually, while a second line has already been commissioned, doubling total annual capacity to 30 million sets.
The Tianjin plant is also well known for its state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities. Utilizing advanced technology, one gram of metal can produce as many as 20,000 tiny springs, many of which are essential in automotive braking systems that demand the highest safety standards.
The Tianjin plant manager said Tianjin's strategic location, well-developed industrial supply chain, and strong talent pool have made it an ideal base for expansion.
