Experiened new CEO of Eco-City's investment company brings hope

Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (SSTEC) has appointed a new Deputy CEO Mr. Tong Cherng Yaw. Mr. Tong took over as Deputy CEO in charge of Physical Planning and Development with effect from 1 September 2019.

Before joining SSTEC, Mr. Tong was the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design Solutions at CPG Consultants Pte Ltd, where he was responsible for driving the industrial design and integrated solutions businesses, building team capabilities and delivering projects.

Mr Tong has more than 20 years of experience in master planning, urban planning, sustainable design, architectural design, project management and implementation. He previously held leadership appointments in the architecture and building technology divisions of Jurong International (before merger) and Surbana Jurong (post-merger). He has also served stints with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore and leading architecture firms. In his previous roles, Mr. Tong oversaw a diverse range of projects in the public and private sectors, spanning across countries including Singapore, China, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Thailand and UAE.

Mr. Tong holds a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Studies from the National University of Singapore. He also attended the BCA Executive Development Program on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) Leadership Program in Imperial College London, United Kingdom.

CEO of SSTEC, Mr. Tay Lim Heng said, "We warmly welcome Mr. Tong to SSTEC. Mr. Tong brings a wealth of experience in urban planning and design in both the public and private sectors, which will be of value to SSTEC in the next phase of the Eco-City's development."

SSTEC is the master developer for the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (the Eco-City). It is a 50/50 joint venture between the Chinese Consortium led by Tianjin TEDA Investment Holding Co., Ltd (Tianjin TEDA) and the Singapore Consortium led by the Keppel Group.
