The district of Wuqing is gathering economic drivers by leveraging the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and taking over the non-capital functions of Beijing.

In the first three quarters of the year, 111 new Beijing projects were introduced, with an actual value of 5.76 billion yuan($876 million).

The district is also witnessing a number of invested projects taking shape, such as the 10.2 billion yuan Beijing-Tianjin big data base and an innovation park co-built by the two metropolises.

In addition, development plans have been made for industry parks in the district, in areas such as biology and high-technology.

As with the strengthening economic development, an increasing number of railways and highways connecting Beijing and Langfang (Heibei) have opened and will open in the coming years as part of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional transportation integration.

The district also actively facilitates coordinated regional efforts to overcome issues like COVID-19 and air and water pollution.

To support the resumption of regional industrial chains, it worked to help more than 120 supporting enterprises in the district get back on track, providing timely support to companies in Beijing such as Mercedes and smartphone maker Xiaomi.

It also managed to guarantee supplies of more than 1,000 tons of agricultural and sideline products to Beijing when the capital faced a virus outbreak.

Continuous improvements in environmental quality in Tongzhou (Beijing), Langfang and Wuqing has been the result of the three districts' combined and coordinated efforts to curb industrial pollution and vehicle emissions.

Policy support and services have been put in place to fire up innovation drivers in the district, such as the pharmacy in Nankai University and the AI development center of Huawei.

The district has gathered more than 120 intelligent technology companies, covering areas such as database construction and blockchains.

Local governments have pooled together financial institutions to set up a financial services alliance, easing financial channels for science and technology enterprises. In 2020, more than 150 technology companies received loans of 35 million yuan.

The China Academy of Railway Sciences, a technical railway provider, set up a company in Wuqing in 2014 for technology innovation and transformation.

In June 2019, the company officially became a leading enterprise among the strategic emerging industries of Tianjin. It is expected that the output value this year will reach 800 million yuan and the profits will be 80 million yuan.

Cyto Niche, which is a world-leading overall solutions provider for the large-scale stem cell culture and expansion process and also created the world's first injectable innovative drug product for stem cells, set up a production base last year in the district to boost the research being done in the area.
