The second phase of the Tianjin National Convention and Exhibition Center resumed construction on April 5.

Jointly built by the Ministry of Commerce and the Tianjin municipal government, it is the third national-level modern exhibition hall in the country after Guangzhou and Shanghai. After completion, it will become the largest exhibition center in northern China.

The second phase of the project is mainly an exhibition area, with the planned 16 exhibition halls covering about 540,000 square meters.

"Since the official start of construction on March 29, 2019, the project construction has been moving forward ahead of schedule,” said Sui Jieming, the manager of the construction site.

“The main project of the construction is planned for completion in 2020, and the interior and exterior decoration will be 80 percent completed."

At present, 4,000 workers have fully resumed work on the construction site in a bid to finish it on time.

The construction of the project has been resumed with necessary protection measures taken to fight against novel coronavirus.
