Tianjin reports three more imported cases of COVID-19

Tianjin confirmed 3 newly imported cases of COVID-19 (Chinese nationality) amid no new domestically transmitted cases on March 30, bringing the total of imported cases of COVID-19 in the city to 33 (29 of Chinese nationality, 2, American, 1, French and 1, Philippine), according to the Tianjin Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The 31st case is a 16-year-old boy of Chinese nationality, who lives in New York. He arrived at Tianjin Binhai International Airport by flight CA990 from New York on March 28, with body temperature at 37.2℃ and nasal obstruction reported by himself. He was traced by the customs authorities and was transferred to the fever clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital Airport Hospital. The throat swab specimen of the patient tested positive on March 29, and he was confirmed as the 31st imported case, in unknown conditions, in Tianjin by the expert panel. The patient is now in Haihe Hospital and epidemiological investigations are under way.

The 32nd case is a 20-year-old boy of Chinese nationality, who studies at the University of Nottingham. He arrived at Tianjin Binhai International Airport by flight SU204 from Moscow on March 24, and was transferred to the Shehuishan Hotel for centralized quarantine. He developed a fever with body temperature at 37.7℃ on March 28 and was transferred to the fever clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital Airport Hospital. The throat and nasal swab specimen of the patient tested positive on March 30, and he was confirmed as the 32nd imported case, in unknown conditions, in Tianjin by the expert panel. The patient is now in Haihe Hospital and epidemiological investigations are under way.

The 33rd case is a 21-year-old girl of Chinese nationality, who lives in Spain. She arrived at Tianjin Binhai International Airport by flight CA934 from Paris on March 29, with body temperature at 36.9℃ and nasal obstruction reported by herself. She was traced by the customs authorities and was transferred to Green Tree Inn near the Tianjin Binhai International Airport in Dongli district for centralized quarantine. The throat swab specimen of the patient tested positive on March 30, and she was confirmed as the 33rd imported case, in unknown conditions, in Tianjin by the expert panel. The patient is now in Haihe Hospital and epidemiological investigations are under way.

The city has confirmed a total of 136 locally transmitted cases so far, among which 73 are males and 63 females. 133 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery and 3 died. 88 people are suspected of being infected with the virus. A total of 3,008 close contacts have been traced, and among them 371 are under medical observation.
