On Feb 26, another five COVID-19 patients in Tianjin were discharged from Haihe Hospital after recovery, bringing the total of cured cases in the city to 96. So far, three confirmed children have been all released from hospital.

There is one child among the five patients. According to Fan Wenxuan, a doctor with the Tianjin Children’s Hospital working group in Haihe Hospital, the child had been in mild condition and taken care of by the medical staff along with his confirmed parents, so the workload for treatment and nursing was relatively lighter. However, Fan added, the child was naughty and not as cooperative as adults, which means more patience and caution needed to be taken by the medical personnel during his treatment.

So far, all three infected children have been discharged from hospital. “Overall, there have been no severe cases among children. The medical personnel have given the confirmed children treatment according to the latest edition of the Guideline on Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19. In terms of nurse care, for fear of the mood swings in the children staying in hospital alone, we have figured out a lot of solutions. We bought him gifts and cooked his favourite foods, and nurses chatted and played with him to stabilize his mood gradually until he was discharged from hospital smoothly. Although all the three children have left hospital, it’s not the time to take the matter lightly, instead, we should remain on alert at all times. I hope the epidemic will be gone as soon as possible and no more children will be confirmed,” said Fan.
