Tianjin reports 1 new confirmed case of COVID-19, with 5 discharged from hospital

Tianjin reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19 between 6am and 6pm on February 20, bringing the total number of cases in the city to 131, according to the Tianjin Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, five people have been discharged from hospital, they added.

The 131st case is a 49-year-old woman who lives in Haibin Neighborhood Community, Baodi district. She has no recent history of travel to Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak in China. She shopped in the clothing area of the Baodi Department Store on January 23, and developed fever symptoms on January 30. She turned to self-medicated treatment without visiting a doctor. She was taken under home-based quarantine on February 1, during which time she had a cough and fever symptoms and did not go to the hospital. She visited the fever clinic of Baodi People’s Hospital on February 8, was diagnosed as a suspected case, and admitted to the isolation ward for treatment. Her fourth result of nucleic acid testing was positive on February 20. The woman was confirmed as the 131st case in the city, in common condition, by the expert panel. She is now in Haihe Hospital. Close contacts of the patient who were traced are under medical observation and other close contacts are being tracked.

Tianjin has confirmed a total of 131 COVID-19 cases so far, of which 71 are males and 60 females, with two in critical condition, 20 in severe condition, 46 in common condition and one in mild condition. 59 patients walked out of hospital after recovery and three have died. 164 people are suspected of being infected with the virus. A total of 1,986 close contacts have been traced, and among them, 775 are under medical observation.
