The 2019 Market Regulation Forum, held by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, began in Tianjin on Aug 31,  with a theme of "Consumption Environment and High-quality Development".

More than three hundred people including government officials, universities professors, company representatives and journalists took part in the forum.

Zhangping, the president of China Consumers' Association, hoped the forum would promote economic development and meet people's demands for a better life. He also thought market supervision and mutual efforts of producers, businessmen and consumers could play important roles in constructing the consumption environment.

The director of the State Administration for Market Regulation emphasized that it is crucial to spot new patterns of economic development and understand new challenges of defending consumers' rights and interests. The government should set up authorities and innovate supervising approaches in terms of consuming modes, consuming hotspots and market problems.

Liu Junchen, a deputy director of the commission of legislative affairs, shared his opinions on supervising and improving the consumption environment from the perspective of legislation.

Gao Peiyong, the vice-president of the China Academy of Social Sciences, analyzed the significant meaning of high-quality development and also discussed supply-side reform.

Zhangyong, CEO of Alibaba, and Wangjian, chairman of Tianjin Seagull, put forward some new thinking on the digital economy and stimulating market potential.
