The Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, hosted by Tianjin Normal University, won the Advanced Confucius Institute Award in the 13th Confucius Institute Conference which was held in Chengdu, Sichuan province from December 4 to 5.

At the meeting, 30 advanced Confucius Institutes (classrooms), 30 advanced Confucius Institute individuals and 10 advanced Chinese partner institutions were commended.

Mbezi, the Dean of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, Kenya shared his experiences at the opening ceremony as the only foreign institute president.  　

Tianjin Normal University has made outstanding achievements in international promotion of Chinese. The Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi in Kenya established in 2005 is the first Confucius Institute in Africa and has become a global construction model for Confucius Institute. In recent years, Tianjin Normal University has successively hosted the first Confucius Institute at the Silk Road in the Sea, the Confucius Institute at the University of Hull in the UK, and the Confucius Institute at the Royal Normal University in Mansund, Chao Phraya, Thailand.

For contributing with construction of the Confucius Institute and international promotion of Chinese, 924 students have been selected to 46 countries, as well as 12 deans and 20 public teachers have been sent to 17 countries to teach Chinese.

At present, educational institutions of Tianjin have established 36 Confucius Institutes and 53 Confucius Classrooms in primary and secondary schools around the world.

In regards to the construction of the Confucius Institute, it has won the Advanced Chinese Cooperation Agency Award three times and the Confucius Institute Advanced Individual Award three times. The Confucius Institute hosted by the Confucius Institute won the Advanced Confucius Institute Award 10 times. The university has developed a distinctive way of building Confucius Institute with its comprehensive level of Chinese international education and promotion leading among universities in the country.
